Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of about 80 poems, primarily romantic meditations on such subjects as love, music, sorrow, and separation from loved ones. Most of the poems in the manuscript are by Byron and Moore, including an excerpt from Byron's Childe Harold labeled Lines on the Death of the Princess Charlotte and excerpts from Moore's Lalla Rookh, one of which is labeled To Henry; poems by other authors include The Joy of Grief by James Montgomery and Marriage is Like a Devonshire Lane by Rev. John Marriott.

Princess Charlotte was the only child of King George IV of Great Britain and Caroline of Brunswick. She was doted on by her grandfather King George III. The poet James Montgomery was born in Irvine, Ayrshire, on 4 November 1771. He was sent to the Moravian school (the Moravians are a religious community) at Fulneck, near Leeds, and while there began writing poetry.
